Who works on your Mini?

"The cars were taken apart by the scrutineers... I almost had a nervous breakdown..."

Classic Mini - Peter Browning

Peter Browning: Last of the three BMC Competition Managers. He followed in the footsteps of Stuart Turner and led the competition department from 1967 until its closure in 1970. "My first event was the Monte which I did jointly with Stuart. We were determined to go back and win a third time after the disqualification in 1966." - Peter on his first taste of competition management. "After the event, the cars were taken apart by the scrutineers and I remember a fat Frenchman holding the carbs in his hand looking at all the details. What he didn©ˆt know was that there was an illegal modification of a balance pipe between the carbs, but he didn't see it because he had his fat fingers over it! I nearly had a nervous breakdown, but we got away with it." Peter on his narrow escape at the Monte.
