My son and I visited with Mr Cooper in 1995 at his garage located in Ferring at the time. He was a most hospitable man and, at the age of 72, was obviously still completely enthralled with the Mini. His enthusiasm seemed boundless as he regaled us with racing stories and tales of days gone by. It was a mesmerising experience for me and I will not forget how special he made us feel. His modesty made him question that anyone from the US, Japan, the Netherlands or any other far flung place would see fit to take the time to visit him. But, "they come," he said, "I do not know why!" He was a very special man, indeed. That is the way I will remember him.
