Having passed IVA Type Approval with flying colours in June this year, production of the AMC Cub, the Mini-based open-topped fun car, has re-started. The Cub was originally designed by Charles Andersen and built in Liverpool by his company between 1985 and 1997.

According to Charles: “It was, and is, an updated replacement for the Mini Moke which was produced in England, Australia and finally Portugal until about 1989.”

Production of the Cub is now up and running again in Liverpool using all of the original Cub jigs, fixtures and templates. Available as either a two or four seat model, the Cub is based on Rover Mini suspension, brakes and running gear with disc brakes to the front and drums to the rear. The recommended engine is the Rover 1275cc A-series unit on a four speed manual gearbox. For more information phone +44 (0)7903 573 050, e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Very reminiscent of a similar vehicle I owned in the early 90's that was NOT a moke nor any of the other copies originally one of five made for towing in F2 cars at Goodwood complete with tow dolly mounted in the rear but can't recall it's name now I have images somewhere I must dig out and post sometime but great fun wee vehicles and everyone should have one for sure
